Training a dog to be aggressive isn’t half as hard as training one NOT to be aggressive.

If you bought a big or aggressive breed of dog for protection it does no good if he/she can’t be near you, around people when it’s time to protect you.
Are shock collars okay?
Recently I’ve been getting asked about shock collars. Shock collars in the hands
of a trained professional can be a valuable tool. They are intended to send short
controlled burst of electricity to a dog from a distance at the push of a button.
For certain dogs in certain situations this can shorten the training time considerably.
However I personally would not use it as SOP (Standard Operating Procedures). The
military usually uses them as a last resort for stopping a dog on the attack when
it is off leash. Even then there are some dogs that will not break off an attack
and must be cycled out of the program.
Before you say yes or no to shock collar training
talk to the trainer and ask when, where and how they will use it. Ask if it’s the
only way that they train dogs. If it is, then think about weather the method would
be the right training technique for your dog. And finally, get a second and third
opinion/option so that you can make an informed choice.
